The retreat center is named “The Paradigm” because it is the legacy project of psychiatrist and scholar, Dr. Albert Levis, innkeeper of The Wilburton Inn, founder of The Museum of the Creative Process and author of 7 books about The Formal Theory of Behavior. Albert transformed his childhood experience growing up as a Jew in hiding in Athens Greece during World War II, into a lifelong quest to bring peace and conflict resolution, healing the person and the world. Dr. Levis’s discovery is the integrative paradigm that integrates art, science and morality. It solves the three objectives of the Core Curriculum, to understand art and science, know thyself, and have clarity of moral values. The sculptures in the hangar are a tribute to Prometheus, Atlas, Pandora, Nefertiti, Osiris and Akhenaten who wrestled with the status quo and innovated new ideas.
The Paradigm’s logo is Oedipus handing an olive branch of peace to the sphinx. It represents cooperation, moderation and mutual respect. The vision of The Paradigm is that this is a place of education, inspiration, reflection, intellectual growth and creativity. We welcome you to enjoy this majestic setting dedicated to peace and wisdom with your group.
