This 9,000 sq. foot mansion was built in 1906 as a wedding present for the daughter of Albert Gilbert, the Chicago railroad tycoon who built the Wilburton Inn in 1902 only half a mile away.
It is on a completely private 5 acre estate off scenic River Road, right below Hildrene, the Lincoln Family Home in the heart of Manchester Village, Vermont. You can jog, walk, and hike right from the mansion past beaucolic farmlands, cows, barns, and even a one room school house and red covered bridge!
The mansion was completely renovated in 2005. It features high ceilings, handsome original wooden detailing, 15 bedrooms with a total of 21 beds. There are 12 bathrooms that were remodeled with Vermont Marble trims.
The house has a 330 square foot commercial kitchen and is perfect for large groups who enjoy cooking together. There are 10 gas burners and 2 ovens, 2 refrigerators, a three-bay commercial dishwasher, microwave, and huge pantry.
The 400 sq. foot, handsome wood paneled dining room features a wood burning fireplace.The 560 sq. foot living room features a piano and lots of couches for everyone to sit together and relax and watch the huge flat screen TV. There is a bedroom with a double bed for guests that have difficulty with stairs, plus an optional 15th bedroom in the library that has a twin bed. The house has Free WiFi and satellite TV, a gazebo, and on-site campfire.
The 850-square foot grand ballroom can be enjoyed as a sun-filled yoga studio, corporate conference room, wedding area, or family game room with a full size ping pong table and giant chess set.
The mansion contains 4 wood burning fireplaces.This home sleeps 34 guests and can accomodate events for 50.
