Sysnopsis: It’s 1924, and Alexander Woolcott - New York Times drama critic and literary influencer- has invited his famous friends, among them Harpo Marx, Dorothy Parker, and Irving Berlin, to become members of his exclusive Vermont club for the coming season. A rave review from Woolcott could make any book a bestseller, any play a hit, so Broadway producers, authors and stars are vying to win his favor with battles of wits, songs, and parlor games. Some people would do anything to win The Murder Game and become a member of the club. Others are dying to get in.
Wilburton mystery weekends are a 20-year tradition that began when innkeeper Georgette Wasserstein Levis turned her sister, Wendy Wasserstein’s Broadway hit, The Sisters Rosensweig into The Brothers Rosenblood. Second generation family innnkeeper and New York City writer Tajlei Levis creates new mystery events each year, inspired by Wilburton and local Vermont history. This year’s Spring Mystery: The Murder Game, is inspired by the true story of Woolcott’s private Vermont club on Neshobe Island in the middle of Lake Bomoseen.
Prizes will be awarded for best dressed guest or group and the sleuth who cracks the case. Everyone is encouraged to dress in 1920s festive attire, which might include flapper finery, vintage Vermont or Marx Brothers. A professional photographer will capture your participation as a memory of this extravaganza in Vermont!
