Manchester Players Theater Series

The Wilburton in happy to host Manchester Players's monthly theater series. This month, on Sunday, June 11 at 2pm, The Manchester Players will hold a public reading of the play Church & State by Jason Odell Williams.

Church & State is a fast-paced, witty, and funny look at faith, politics, and “The Twitter.” It is three days before Charles Whitmore's Senate reelection and he has decided to tell the truth about what's on his mind.  What could go wrong?

The play begins after a school incident in Raleigh, NC leads Whitmore to question, not only his faith, but his political beliefs. He has doubts about his stance on guns and experiences a crisis of faith.  Telling the truth and speaking from his heart could end his political career.  He does so and the end result of his honesty is both disturbing and transformative.

Williams has written an enjoyable, thought-provoking and timely piece which speaks to the lunacy of modern politics.   Every member of Congress should see it! The reading features local, professional actors.  It is free and open to the public.  To reserve a seat please call The Wilburton Inn 802-362-2500.
